A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, Gong achieved significant recognition in 2021 as the winner of the Mead Witter School of Music Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, performing Chopin's Concerto in F minor with the Mead Witter Symphony Orchestra. He also earned first prizes in the Irving Shain Beethoven Competition and the Irving Shain Woodwind and Piano Duo Competition. In his home country of China, Gong has garnered acclaim in several major national piano competitions. He was awarded first prize at the 17th Xinghai Cup, organized by the Central Conservatory of Music—revered as "the Cradle of Chinese Pianists," as well as the first prize at the 2017 Chinese Junior Golden Bell National Piano Competition, hosted by the Chinese Musicians Association.
